About Me

Hi!  My name is Marlise and I am an avid baker, quilter, and stay at home mom to four year old boy/girl twins in New Jersey. My story is that in March 2008 I got engaged to my husband.  Three months later, I found out I was pregnant.  Two months later, I found out it was to be twins.  One month later, I got married.  Ending up 4 months later, in January 2008, when J & L were born at 37 weeks, perfectly healthy.  It was quite a year.

Since then, I have been a stay-at-home mom.  I took up cooking in November 2010 because it seemed like a challenge I could handle while watching the kids.  Mostly I used the recipes on foodnetwork.com.  In the Spring of 2011, I picked up Dorie Greenspan’s Baking from My Home to Yours at the library.  My first recipe was the Perfection Pound Cake.  It turned out wonderfully.  With that success, I purchased the book.  Since then, I have baked my way through 25+ recipes, and I am still baking.

But now I have joined the Tuesdays with Dorie group and am incorporating recipes from Baking with Julia, another book written by Dorie Greenspan.  These recipes are a bit more challenging.  I am up for the challenge.

    • Hi Lauren – I am in the south too, but closer to Philadelphia. It takes me about an hour to get to AC. Nice to know there is someone else down here. And it’s nice to meet you. I have read your blog before, but did not leave a message. I will stop by again soon and this time I will leave a message. LOL. Have a great day.

  1. Hi Marlise, I say AC since it’s more well-known. I’m actually in Egg Harbor City. If you’re an hour away, closer to Philly, I’m going to guess Marlton, Cherry Hill? Talk to you soon!

  2. Hi Marlise! It’s Amy, from South Jersey Swappers….just wanted to drop by and say I found your blog and I’m following you on my google reader now :) I may need to try this whole blogging thing!

  3. Hi Marlise, I met you at the Swap Meet at the Amish Market in Vineland on Saturday.
I got a bag of these and it was all I could do to not gobble them all down in one sitting. They are absolutely delicious and I am going to try making them. Loved the addition of coconut. Finished the last two for breakfast this morning. Heaven. I am so glad we had a chance to meet.
