It’s been a while since I posted. I’ve tried recipes but nothing has tempted me to post until now. I found this recipe for Pumpkin Scones on Food.com. I had almost all the needed ingredients, and what I did not have, I could easily substitute.
It took me about 2 hours from start to finish to make the scones. I still have some of the pumpkin puree in the refrigerator, so I think I will make another batch soon. They were that good!
I had everything except the half-and-half. I substituted heavy cream.
See all the chunks of butter. I used my fingers to mix the butter in with the other ingredients. I only mixed until it mostly stayed together. There was about 1/8 cup of dry ingredients left over that did not mix.
I sprinkled table sugar on top of the scones before baking. It added a nice crunchy texture to the scones.
I did not make the glazes in the recipe. Instead, I mixed some powdered sugar with maple syrup, and then added a little water until I had a pourable glaze. This I poured on top of the scones with a teaspoon. I would say that while the glaze was really nice on the scones, it is not necessary if you are also sprinkling the table sugar on top.
These scones were really good. Enjoy!
